Question: Is Lady Gaga's "Judas" blasphemous ?

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
I'm in love with Juda-as, Juda-as

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
I'm in love with Juda-as, Juda-as

Judas! Juda-a-a! Judas! Juda-a-a!
Judas! Juda-a-a! Judas! GA-GA! (2x)

[Verse 1]
When he comes to me, I am ready
I wash his feet with my hair if he needs
Forgive him when his tongue lies through his brain
Even after three times he betrays me

Ahh ah ah ah ah Ahh ah ah ah
I'll bring him down, bring him down, down
Ahh ah ah ah ah Ahh ah ah ah
A king with no crown, king with no crown

[Chorus]
I'm just a Holy Fool, oh baby, it's so cruel
But I'm still in love with Judas, baby!
I'm just a Holy Fool, oh baby, it's so cruel
But I'm still in love with Judas, baby!

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
I'm in love with Juda-as, Juda-as

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
I'm in love with Juda-as, Juda-as

Judas! Juda-a-a! Judas! Juda-a-a!
Judas! Juda-a-a! Judas! GA-GA!

[Verse 2]
I couldn't love a man so purely
Even prophets forgave his crooked way
I've learned love is like a brick, you can
Build a house or sink a dead body

Ahh ah ah ah ah Ah ah ah ah
I'll bring him down, bring him down, down
Ahh ah ah ah ah Ah ah ah ah
A king with no crown, king with no crown

[Chorus]
I'm just a Holy Fool, oh baby, it's so cruel
But I'm still in love with Judas, baby
I'm just a Holy Fool, oh baby, it's so cruel
But I'm still in love with Judas, baby

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
I'm in love with Juda-as, Juda-as

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
I'm in love with Juda-as, Juda-as

(Ew)

[Bridge]
In the most Biblical sense,
I am beyond repentance
Fame hooker, prostitute, wench; vomits her mind.
But in the cultural sense,
I just speak in future tense.
Judas, kiss me, if offensed,
Or wear ear condom next time.

I wanna love you,
But somethin's pulling me away from you
Jesus is my Virtue
And Judas is the demon I cling to (cling to)
I cling to

[Chorus]
Just a Holy Fool, oh baby, it's so cruel
But I'm still in love with Judas, baby
I'm just a Holy Fool, oh baby, it's so cruel
But I'm still in love with Judas, baby

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
I'm in love with Juda-as, Juda-as

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
I'm in love with Juda-as, Juda-as

Judas! Juda-a-a! Judas! Juda-a-a!
Judas! Juda-a-a! Judas! GAGA!

Okay and so ... that is the lyrics for Lady Gaga's latest single.

It's unfortunate really. It's literally hard not to judge.

Lady Gaga has just taken one mainstream icon of unholiness in Christianity - Judas, and turned it into the title of her latest hit single. Tell me that's not gonna get her flamed left right centre.

I, being one of her millions of loyal fans, craving her Midas touch on all the song she releases, finds it hard pressed to listen to Judas in church without feeling this sense of rightly-placed dread that one of the red roof tiles will strike my head anytime I step into church.

Yet I just can't help that the song sounds so damn bloody good !

Lady Gaga Lady Ah-ah ... You're making this very hard on your supporters. Do you love us or not ?

However, even I have to put my foot down on this particular single she just released.

The sad fact of life is that there are just certain lines you do not cross. With the release of this new single, the line is so far gone past Lady Gaga that it has become a dot to her. Yes Gaga Ahah, That's how far you're away from the line.

The moment Lady Gaga repeats the word " Judas " so many times in such endearing terms whilst simultaneously dancing on the dance floor wearing a tight-fitting pants with a cross sewn right at the crotch area, she has lost any credibility to even try to defend the true meaning of the song. Lady Gaga can use her millions to tell the world that the many repetition of the word " Judas " is actually a metaphor for something else and she can go on countless interviews to defend her own viewpoint. That, is not gonna work one bit.

To quote her from Wikipedia, "Judas' is a metaphor and an analogy about forgiveness and betrayal and things that haunt you in your life and how I believe that it's the darkness in your life that ultimately shines and illuminates the greater light that you have upon you."

It's just not convincing enough ! It's too little too late literally ! Your single is a top billboard hit right now and you're already raking in millions for the entertainment industry by taking a swipe at Christianity and now you're trying to weave spells over the crowd that you song ain't making a mockery of what us Christians stand for !

I for one, will love to believe it. But I'm honor-bound not to believe it !

Lady Gaga trying to say that Judas represents something else and isn't referring to Judas Iscariot is something like this ...

or ...

You can't do such things !

You can't release such a provocative single and expect the entire Christianity world to just accept your explanations that Judas is a symbol of something else altogether ! Your song is so IN YOUR FACE to all Christians so it'll almost be such a sin for us NOT TO REACT!

You drove us to react ! In fact, I think we are the victim over here ! It's like we're lying on our sofa one day while your music video starts playing on TV and suddenly we are honor-bound to talk shit about your new single because we've got to defend something in us that's more important than all your songs ! Our faith !

Maybe secretly, we feel that your songs are awesome. But no ! But somethings have to be done based on principles alone !

And honestly, I think Lady Gaga's interviews ain't really gonna work much. Seriously. Once again, the moment you aim a gun at someone's head, it's not likely that the chat will revolve around happy memories no ?

The fact is that those who care enough to criticize her songs won't be bothered with her explanation. Those who love the song won't care about the meaning of this song because they are merely interested in the music.

I like this song a lot.

It's on one of the playlist I listen to everyday.

But. I disagree with the creating of this song. Hypocritical right ? I know. Boo you anyway. I own this blog.

I am against the release of this latest single because, no matter what Gaga may say about this song, it matters very little because the song itself is a greater testimony to its nature than whatever Gaga may say about the deeper insights behind the lyrics.

Gaga, you honestly think that people dancing to this song on the dance floor will have a sudden epiphany and start to realize that maybe "Judas" isn't the Judas Iscariot we know, but is actually a representation of a whole new train of thoughts ?

Wake up.

It's not gonna happen.

If you, who has the undesirable reputation of wearing pants with crosses sewn onto the crotch region in your own music videos, release a single titled "Judas", there can only be one 'Judas' who will be on our mind if we listen to your song.

The lyrics, which I've placed at the top of this post for your perusal, has created such a convenient avenue to sing out one's frustration at various elements of their lives. People who dance and rock to this song can officially tell themselves that they are merely singing out their lyrics and having fun but they are actually not blaspheming even though unofficially there's that deep recess at the back of their subconsciousness that is asking them to vent their negativity by rocking to this song. They will know that it is not true, yet they don't have to face up to the truth.

This song provides a good shield for people to blaspheme without blaspheming.

This song allows people to sin without inner reproach by the auto-activating consciousness of the mind.

This song allows people to hate God without admitting to themselves of this bottled up anger they possess.

This song allows people to lie to themselves and make themselves feel more comfortable after this act of lie.

This song is pure genius.

If the devil is using Lady Gaga as an instrument to promote self-delusion, then congratulations Mister Devil, this round is yours. Good job.

I once heard from my friend that saying the names of the devil will give it greater strength and a more powerful hold over this world. So in essence, this song is really helping this entire "name calling" process along. I just counted the number of "Judas" in this song and it numbered more than 60 times. I kinda lost count after that.

60 X 100 clubbers in a regular club X 50% who will probably sing along X 40 clubs in Singapore = 120 000 mentions of the devil's name in one night. This is excluding people like me who will sing at home and in the showers. A good estimate will be that in any regular night, because of the existence of this song, in the first 4 weeks of this song's debut, the name of the devil will be mentioned about 200 000 more than usual.

Thanks Gaga.You win.

It matters not the intention of your song, nor the music video, in which you starred as Mary Magdalene, it matters that your song is so shockingly anti-Christianity at face value that honestly, you can't blame people for categorizing this song under certain labels like "satanic" / "demonic" / "untouchable".

This song shouldn't be created and you know it.

Instead of the thousands of interviews you're giving to defend the 'honor' of this song, why not just save yourself the trouble and just not release this song ?
